Bio

Francesco Federico is the Global Chief Marketing Officer of S&P Global, where he leads the marketing function across the company's ratings, market intelligence, commodity insights, and indices businesses. He has spent two decades inside information businesses — companies whose product is, in the end, a particular kind of judgment.

That work is what led him here. The arrival of capable AI agents inside marketing functions is not, in his reading, an automation story. It is a redesign of the function itself — of the brief, the team, the audit trail, the relationship with agencies, and the posture of the leader. The Agentic CMO is the field manual he wishes he had been handed eighteen months ago.

He is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Marketing and a member of the World Economic Forum's Strategic Communicators Exchange. He sits on the editorial board of the Journal of Digital & Social Media Marketing, and advises HFS Research and IDC. He was named to the Financial Narrative 50 in 2025 and The Drum's Top 100 B2B CMOs the same year.

He writes Chronicles of Change, a weekly newsletter on agentic marketing, and occasionally publishes longer essays at francescofederico.com. He lives between London and Milan.
